Golf!

So today we are sitting in the CAEDM lab in the Clyde Building; it's the first reading day, the day we're supposed to crack down and get stuff done. I'm a bit behind on my thesis and haven't prepared for any of my finals, and Nathan also has a lot to do.

So Nathan turns to me and tells me he should get into golf again, because he's going into the MBA and it will probably be really important to his education. I roll my eyes. I hate golf--or at least the idea of it, seeing as how I've never played. It's expensive and preppy and not a real sport and husbands just do it to get away from their families.

"Let's go right now!" Nathan says, looking super excited.

"Are you serious? We have so much to do!" I'm not sure I want to nurture this.

Nathan looks up some courses and their prices. I am shocked, but a little bit enticed. Eventually I agree. Nathan is always such a great sport about trying things I'm interested in (pottery class, Mamma Mia!, flamenco performances, cooking with ground turkey instead of beef, etc.), so I decide to return the favor and give golf a chance. We head home to change into our super trendy golf apparel. Nathan is excited to tuck his polo in, telling me if he looks like a golfer he will play better.

We go to DI first to see if we can snag some cheap clubs and balls. I'm a lefty, so we only find one club that will work for me. Nathan gets one to match, and we find a putter that will work for both of us. They are a dollar each--sweet! With no balls in sight, we check the pockets of some beat-up golf bags and find a ton! With no price tags! The guy at checkout agrees to give us about fifteen for just a dollar, and we head to the course.

The fee and rental is expensive, but we are stoked for our seven-hole game. I make a goal to score less than 60. Nathan teaches me the basics, and although I can't master swinging at the level of the grass, I do ok. Nathan is basically a pro, and looks super handsome when he plays. And we have a ton of fun!

I finish with 53 points ...which is just 30 over par! Haha, not very good, but within my goal. Nathan did much better.

The pro in action ... not on the course because I forgot the camera.

I've decided golf isn't that bad. Ok, so it's pretty fun, especially because we got to go together.

The Albrechtsens

A brief introduction to us, the Albrechtsens. This is us,
coming out of the temple after being sealed on April 25th, 2009.

This is Nathan, the husband.

He is from Clinton, Iowa, the fourth of five. He is currently going to BYU, working towards his Master's degree in mechanical engineering. After he finishes his thesis this summer, he'll start his MBA in the fall, also at BYU. He enjoys hamburgers, home improvement projects, and organizing our linen closet. He is my favorite.

This is me, Kimber, the wife.

I am from Boise, ID. I am a senior at BYU, majoring in marriage and family studies, and minoring in English. I love to cook new things, which Nathan sometimes loves. I'm taking three creative writing classes this semester, and I am so excited!

We met in Seattle on a blind date in the summer of 2008. We were set up by Nathan's ex-girlfriend's twin sister--ha! We went to a Mariner's game, had a great time, and after even better second and third dates, we "dated" for about two weeks until I left for Spain on study abroad. We kept in touch by email and Skype, and when I returned near Thanksgiving I decided he was just as cute and fun as when I left, and he was relieved that I hadn't come back fat from eating too much Spanish tortilla. We got engaged on Valentine's Day 2009, and married in April. We live in Wymount and are having the time of our lives!
